Create an Automator Rule
Choose scope, conditions, timing, response, and escalation, then review and save an Automator rule.
Before You Begin
Who can do this: Admin only. Open Automator, then create a rule at /automator/create. Know the machine scope, condition, and recipients. Check template prerequisites and the data source: sensor-based rules do not trigger for work centers.
Create and Review
- Optionally choose a Template. It pre-fills settings; it does not create a rule yet.
- In Scope & Definition, name the rule and select machines. No selected machines means a global rule for all active machines.
- In Conditions & Timing, configure conditions and AND/OR groups, polling interval, minimum true duration, clear duration, active-shift requirement, and cooldown as needed.
- Read ratio thresholds in context. For the documented deficit/duration ratios, 130% means 30% over plan or behind pace. Booking-dependent preparation and scrap metrics update only with PDA entries.
- In Response & Escalation, choose recipients and the available response, auto-resolution, closure notification, and escalation settings.
- In Review, read the plain-language description. Address warnings about missing recipients, global scope, or a disabled rule.
- Save and check the rule in the rule list. Use the Event Inbox to follow triggered events.
Expected Result and Common Problems
The saved rule checks its selected scope and creates events when its condition and timing are satisfied. Events move from New through Acknowledged to Resolved, with reopening available.
If a rule has not triggered, check its enabled state, scope, active shift, required data, and minimum duration. A template alone is not a saved rule. Acknowledgment is not resolution. Automatic interval-ending actions are not confirmed by the rule editor.
