Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Choose email or authenticator OTP codes, finish setup, and avoid incomplete authenticator configuration.
Before You Begin
Who can do this: Every signed-in role for their own account. Open User Profile, route /user. 2FA adds a six-digit OTP (One-time password) after the normal sign-in step.
Choose and Complete a Method
- Open the profile's two-factor authentication settings.
- Choose Email code to receive the sign-in code by email, or Authenticator app.
- For an authenticator, scan the QR code with the app.
- Enter the code from that app to finish setup. Do not stop after scanning alone.
- If you cannot finish, use Cancel and revert to email.
Abandoning authenticator setup halfway can leave the account using the authenticator method without a working code, locking you out at the next sign-in. Complete the code confirmation or revert to email before leaving.
Expected Result and Troubleshooting
The selected method supplies the code for the second sign-in step. Trust this device for next 30 days skips that step on the trusted device for 30 days. Review signed-in devices in Active Sessions.
If setup is incomplete while you are still signed in, use the email-revert action. If you are already unable to sign in, use your organization's support path; recovery steps beyond this are not established by the reference. See Help Center.
