Make the BDE Page the Same on Several Machines
Give several machines’ BDE pages shared display settings and allowed actions.
Goal
Make selected Data Acquisition V3 pages follow the same required settings while keeping other choices personal.
Before You Begin
- Required access: Admin.
- Entry point: Admin Panel → BDE access templates.
Preconditions
- The machines already exist.
- Decide which display choices and actions should be shared on their BDE pages.
Steps
Create or open a template
Open Admin Panel → BDE access templates → New template, or edit an existing template. A name is required, with up to 80 characters, and must be unique within your company. Capitalisation and spaces before or after the name do not make it different: “Saws” and “ saws ” count as the same name. Names in other companies do not count.
Choose the machines
Select machines from the list grouped by hall. Click a hall name or its checkbox to select every machine in that hall. If all are already selected, clicking clears the hall’s selection. Check any other template name shown beside a machine: saving moves that machine from its previous template to this one.
Choose required fields and highlights
Under Always shown, tick the fields everyone must see. Under Always highlighted, tick the fields to highlight whenever shown. To keep a field both visible and highlighted, select it in both lists. People can still choose additional fields and highlights.
Set refresh and sorting if needed
Turn on Use a fixed auto-refresh to choose 1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes. Turn on Use a fixed sorting to set queue-position sorting or at least one sorting rule. With queue-position sorting, choose Running and on-hold orders (Keep in place / At the top) and Orders waiting on a previous operation (Keep in place / At the bottom). Leave either switch off to keep that choice personal.
Choose allowed actions
Under Allowed on the BDE page, leave on the actions people may use. Switch off those to hide. All are allowed initially. These choices apply to administrators too. Review the action effects, especially the difference between changing a status and stopping work.
Save and check on the BDE page
Save the template. Open a selected machine’s Data Acquisition V3 page and use its refresh button or reload the page. Check the required fields, highlights, sorting, refresh interval, and available actions. Open Card Display Settings to see Set by the template and, when applicable, Sorting is set by the template. Other open BDE pages pick up changes at their next automatic refresh, every 5 minutes unless another interval is set. You can also use each page’s refresh button or reload it. Other devices do not update instantly; a screen left open keeps the old choices until one of these happens.
Decision Points
- To adjust several BDE pages, edit their shared template and save once.
- To move a machine to another template, select it in that template and save. A machine can use only one template.
- To return one machine to personal settings, remove it from the template and save. To release all its machines, delete the template and review the affected machine count before confirming.
Expected Result
Selected BDE pages use the template’s required settings for everyone. Personal choices remain saved. Other pages, including the Planner, keep their existing actions.
Common Problems and Edge Cases
- A template with this name already exists.: choose a name of up to 80 characters that no other template in your company uses. Changing capitalisation or spaces before or after the name does not help. Names in other companies do not count.
- Add at least one sort rule, or sort by queue position.: add a rule, choose queue-position sorting, or turn fixed sorting off.
- A required highlight is missing: check whether the field is visible. Add it to Always shown if everyone must see it.
- A BDE page still shows old choices: use its refresh button, reload the page, or wait for its next automatic refresh. Other devices do not update instantly.
- An inactive machine is absent from the selection: editing keeps its existing template assignment.
- A template shows No machines: select machines before expecting it to affect a BDE page.
